BIOL 106: Principles of Biology

Academic Integrity

Academic integrity is the expectation that you will adhere to the values of honesty and responsibility in college and university scholarship.  Academic honesty is the expectation that prohibits cheating, plagiarism, and inventing data and false information.

Academic Honesty and Plagiarism

Research papers, posters, and other written or created work you will produce as a student are filled with rules that are outlined by style manuals. Many of these rules have to do with proper citation. It is critically important to become familiar with these rules, since inadvertent mistakes can lead to plagiarism, which is the uncredited use of somebody else's words or ideas.
