The Commonwealth University Libraries’ Instruction Program increases students’ understanding of information, including determining information needs, accessing and evaluating information, and using information. The ultimate goal of the program is information fluency and supporting students’ retention and critical thinking skills.

Discipline-specific instruction
General information literacy instruction
Workshops
Synchronous online classes using software like Zoom
Instruction sessions are crafted to meet the needs of the instructor and where possible are tied to library learning outcomes.

Service desk interactions
Research consultations
Tours
This can be one-on-one or in small groups.
This includes, but is not limited to:
Asynchronous class recordings
Tutorials
Embedding in the learning management system
Instruction can be led:
In the library classroom,
In the regularly assigned campus classroom,
In a campus computer lab,
In a Zoom classroom,
Or in another suitable location agreed upon between the librarian and instructor
These areas include possible topics, which could span across the various tiers. All classes will meet the needs of the instructor and discipline.
