Aim to:

• understand and clarify the relationships between your research and the discipline/s
• place and justify your research within the discipline/s
• understand the existing literature and how it relates /supports/contradicts your topic

Research can draw on the knowledge, culture, methodology and theories of a number of disciplines - the amount of interdisciplinary research has increased in recent years and all interdisciplinary ideas need to be discussed with your professor(s).
