Student Employment at North Hall Library

The North Hall Library employs between 20 and 30 student assistants during the academic year. Students must have a work-study award as part of their financial aid packet in order to work in the library. There are numerous employment opportunities available in all areas of the library, both public and non-public, and during all hours that the library is open.

Student assistants are employed in most of the following library departments/positions: Circulation, Stacks Maintenance, Interlibrary Loan, and Administration.

Most students work an average of 10 hours per week and some areas require some nights and/or Sundays.

New Applicants:

  1. Log on to JobX  and click on the Student Employees link.
  2. Select Find a Job to view on-campus and community-based student employment.
  3. If hired, students will be required to complete all new-hire paperwork and have a criminal background check. This will be explained in detail once you are hired.

Student work study in the library is very competitive and applicants are evaluated based upon the needs of a particular area, the compatibility of the applicant with those needs, the flexibility of the applicant's schedule, and their grade point average. The hiring process is usually completed within the first few weeks of the semester and previous library experience is not necessary.

 

Pre-Hire / Re-Hires:

Supervisors will work with their employees to determine eligibility and procedures for re-hiring the following school year.
