Connect Google Scholar to the Library

Many researchers like to use Google Scholar to look for articles. If you are one of those people, I'll let you in on a little secret: Google will often send you to publisher websites that want you to pay for the article. But, you are a Commonwealth University researcher, so you have access to full text from the library for FREE.

How to tell Google Scholar you are affiliated with CU:

  1. Go to Google Scholar.

  2. In the upper left under the hamburger menu, choose Settings.
Click on the menu and select settings

  3. Click on Library Links

  4. Search for and then select Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania - Commonwealth U Full Text. Click on Save.
Screen showing where to select Library links and with Commonwealth U selected.

  5. Now when you search Google Scholar, some results will look like this. Notice the Commonwealth U Full Text option. Click on that to be taken to the library's free access point. You may be asked to login with your university credentials.

  6. Final Note: The library doesn't have access to everything. But that doesn't mean you need to pay for articles! If there is an article you want that is behind a paywall, place an ILLiad request for it, and we will get it for you for free.
